Let us take you on the wild ride that was Nikki and Garret’s incredible multi-cultural wedding weekend in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico. As their wedding photographers and videographers, we were asked to tell their unique story the way that they had always dreamed. It was three days filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of cultural magic.
Day 1: We landed in New Mexico (drove right past the Motel where they filmed some scenes from Breaking Bad, which was very cool) and caught an uber to the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa. This resort was a gorgeous venue in the middle of a New Mexican desert oasis with an incredible mountain view. That night was the evening of the Sangeet celebreation.
A little backstory about the happy couple. Garret comes from a family of cowboys and ranchers, and he’s everybit of the strong and yet kind man that eximplifies the word “cowboy”. He loves his family and his friends fiercley and it shows. Nikki comes from an incredibly joyful and loving Indian family that so beautifuly personified their and rich and incredible culture. I’ve never seen such a beautiful outpouring of love and admiration between families. There was a smile of every persons face the entire weekend.
That night was the “Sangeet”, an indian celebration of love – vibrant colors, intricate designs, and music that had everyone on their feet from the moment it started, until the hotel kicked us all off the dance floor (seriously, every danced their hearts out that night). The energy was just electric, setting the stage for what was about to unfold the next day.
Day 2: A golden New Mexico sun rose the next day at the Tamaya Resort. Nikki and Garrett began getting ready for the festivies that afternoon. Today was a traditional wedding celebration with a cowboy twist. It would be an outdoor wedding with a spectaculurly “cowboy” reception after.
They had a sweet and emotional ceremony under the sunburnt peaks of the New Mexico Mountains, with the people they loved most. It was simple. It was loving. It was real. There were tears and laughs and before you know it, they were walk back down the isle they had just entered as a newly married couple.
Immediately after the ceremony, the bridal party ran to grab a few photos and then the night commenced! Dancing, drinking and eating became the sole focus on everyone’s mind. Nikki and Garret, looking like absolute royalty, danced the night away surrounded by their nearest and dearest. It was a perfect blend of cultures, cowboys and love.
In a Nutshell Nikki and Garret’s wedding wasn’t just an event – it was a love-filled adventure. As we look back on this amazing experience, we can’t wait to be part of more love stories that are just as unique and beautiful.
